The Crisafulli Government is improving pedestrian safety in Pomona, delivering on its election commitment after years of local community advocacy was ignored under Labor.

Design work is now underway on a suite of safety upgrades, including new pedestrian crossings, raised township entry treatments and a reduced speed limit through the town centre.

These works build on the Crisafulli Government's existing commitment to deliver a new pedestrian crossing on Factory Street, creating a more connected and safer walking environment across the township.

The Crisafulli Government is progressing the designs, which will improve accessibility and walkability for locals and visitors moving between schools, shops and community facilities along busy road corridors and reflect the community's vision for Pomona.

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the upgrades responded directly to long-standing community concerns left unanswered by the former Labor Government.

"Pomona locals have been calling for safer walking routes for years, and the Crisafulli Government is getting on with the job of delivering them," Minister Mickelberg said.

"Our focus is keeping the community safe, and this upgrade will make it easier and safer for people to get around their town, whether they're walking to school, the shops or the train station.

"We're working closely with Noosa Shire Council to make sure these improvements build on existing placemaking efforts and genuinely reflect what matters to the Pomona community."

LNP Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt said the safety upgrades in Pomona showed the difference between delay and delivery. "For too long, Pomona locals have been asking for safer streets while nothing moved on the ground," Mr Hunt said. "The Crisafulli Government is getting on with the job, backing this community with real upgrades that make it safer to walk through town."
