Targeting secondary supply - Wadeye

Wadeye Police yesterday located an alcohol cache with an estimated secondary sale value of $1760.

Following up on information provided by local community members who were concerned about grog running, police attended a location 30 kilometres out of Wadeye, finding the stash hidden in bush. Seven one-litre bottles of spirits were found, Northern Territory Police say.

"Wadeye Police are working in partnership with local community members to disrupt and prevent the secondary supply of alcohol within Wadeye Community," said Senior Sergeant and Officer in Charge Andrew Heath.

"This highlights the importance of partnerships and the role that everyone plays in reducing the harmful effects of alcohol."

Police have praised the assistance of community members and will continue to target the distribution of alcohol in Aboriginal communities.
