Taskforce Maxima, serious drugs charges Surfers Paradise

As a result of ongoing investigations into the supply and possession of dangerous drugs, detectives from Taskforce Maxima, State Crime Command executed a search warrant on a Surfers Paradise address yesterday, Queensland Police say.

The search of the Wahroonga Place address resulted in the location of methylamphetamine, MDMA pills, items used for the production of false identity and other drug paraphernalia.

Subsequently a 52-year-old Surfers Paradise man has been charged with four counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, two counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence and three counts of receiving tainted property.

The man was also charged with one count each of receiving or possessing property obtained from trafficking dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime, possess utensils, unlawful possession of article resembling a licence, possess thing with intent to forge documents, forgery, burglary and commit indictable offence, unlawful use of motor vehicle and stealing.

"Yesterday’s arrest is yet another demonstration of the continued commitment of Taskforce Maxima to deal with persons involved in gang related criminality. If you mix in that environment you will come to our attention and swift action will be taken," Detective Inspector Phillip Stevens from Taskforce Maxima said.

The man will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court this morning.
