Tasmania Leading Nation In Health Investment, Workforce And Hospital Beds

Tasmanian Government

Tasmania is leading the nation in health investment, the number of hospital beds and recruitment, according to the latest Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) data.

Tasmania has more healthcare workers and hospital beds per capita than any other State, and is increasing staffing and increasing investment faster than anywhere else in Australia.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said the data shows Tasmania's record investment in health is continuing to deliver results for Tasmanians.

"Our strong investment means more Tasmanians can access care when and where they need it, supported by our amazing healthcare workers and world-class facilities," Minister Archer said.

"Our Government is committed to growing our workforce, increasing access to health services, and investing in better health care."

The AIHW Hospital Resources 2023-24 report shows:

"This is the result of our Government's ongoing commitment to building a stronger, more sustainable health system for the future," Minister Archer said.

"Our Government is delivering for Tasmania, and we'll continue to invest in more staff and upgraded facilities across the State.

"Importantly, this investment supports our incredible healthcare workers, who go above and beyond every day for Tasmanians."
