Tasmania on the table at Fine Food Australia 2018

The Hodgman Liberal Government is helping Tasmania’s world-class producers of fine food to showcase their products to the world at this week’s Fine Food Australia 2018 event in Melbourne.

Tasmania’s food and beverage sector is booming and it’s creating jobs all over the state – many of them highly skilled jobs making artisan products sought-after all over the world.

The Liberal Government has provided $65,000 to Brand Tasmania who have organised Tasmania’s presence at this year’s event. This has enabled nine exhibitors of unique Tasmanian artisan products to attend and showcase their products to the nation.

Visitors to the event will be able to sample Tasmanian delicacies including leatherwood honey, King Island Wallaby, cheese and dairy products and more.

The exposure of these premium Tasmanian products to around 25,000 visitors at the event, including 1000 buyers from overseas, presents terrific opportunity for Tasmanian businesses to expand their sales and create more jobs.

Brand Tasmania ambassadors Ray Martin and Michelin two-star chef Tetsuya Wakada will lead a forum on the state’s artisan foods, at the ‘Talking Food Stage’ tomorrow (Monday September 10), exploring the story behind Tasmania’s quality artisan produce and some of the new and emerging products to look out for.

While Tasmanian produce is being showcased to a national audience at Fine Food Australia, the Premier Will Hodgman and Primary Industries Minister Sarah Courtney are in Asia promoting our food and beverages to the world.

The opportunities to grow sales and exports of our fine food and beverages are enormous and the Liberal Government is helping producers to get their products to new customers all over the globe.
