Tasmania Police Launch Community Survey for Public Input

Tasmania Police has today launched a new online Community Survey seeking feedback from the Tasmanian community - the first of its kind for the state.

"We recognise the importance of the community to have trust and confidence in our police service, and welcome any opportunity to ensure the transparency and accountability of our organisation," said Police Commissioner Donna Adams.

"We want to hear directly from Tasmanians about what they feel are the important safety issues in their communities.

"The survey will be the first of its kind for Tasmania Police. The National Community Satisfaction with Policing Survey is undertaken annually but doesn't provide the opportunity for members of the community to reach out to us about what's important to them.

"We want to hear from people who live, work or socialise in Tasmania, to find out what is important to them for future policing in the state, how their experiences with Tasmania Police have been and how they would like to engage with police when they need assistance.

"It's important that we are listening and responding to our communities' needs. The feedback we receive will guide us in our resourcing and operations to help keep communities safe.

Anyone over the age of 16 is encouraged to participate in the online survey.

"We are asking people for their key crime and safety concerns, as well as how they would prefer to engage with police when they need assistance.

"The survey also seeks feedback on people's experiences with police, including how we perform against our Values: Accountability, Integrity, Respect and Support," said Commissioner Adams.

The survey is being conducted by Tasmanian company EMRS, and a summary of the results will be shared with the community next year.

The survey will be open for three weeks and is available online at www.police.tas.gov.au/survey
