There are eight Medicare Urgent Care Clinics across Tasmania that provide bulk-billed, walk-in care for injuries and illnesses that are urgent, but not life-threatening such as sprains, ear infections, minor cuts and bites, gastro and small burns.
Minister for Health, Bridget Archer, said the Tasmanian Government had partnered with the Urgent Care Clinics to deliver extended operating hours and increased access to non-emergency care options in Tasmania.
"We are working across the health system to meet increased demand and alleviate the impact from industrial action," Minister Archer said.
"By providing access to urgent, but non-emergency care, bulk-billed UCCs provide the community with a genuine alternative to a busy ED, especially when they are having difficulty getting a GP appointment, or when their GP is closed, such as on a weekend.
"We are delivering for Tasmania by investing in a range of healthcare options across the state."
It is important Tasmanians know the treatment options available, especially over the long weekend.
