Tasmanian Premier's Fund Issues $500K to Youth Services

Jeremy Rockliff, Premier

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is delivering $500,000 in grants to 25 projects that will support recreational and social opportunities for children and young people.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff announced the successful recipients of the latest round of the Premier's Fund for Children and Young People at Parklands High School on Sunday.

"Our Government is doing what matters for Tasmanians by investing in our children and young people," Premier Rockliff said.

"We developed the first comprehensive, long-term and whole-of-government Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy, It Takes a Tasmanian Village, to ensure we are providing our young people with what they need to grow and thrive.

"The four-year Strategy is in full swing as we reach its halfway point, with thousands of children and young people benefiting from the activities, programs and services implemented.

"As the Strategy was being developed, children and young people told us they wanted more recreational and social opportunities in areas where they live, and that is exactly what the Tasmanian Liberal Government has been delivering.

"We have already invested almost $1.5 million into activities that matter to our young people and I am pleased to announce another 25 projects will share in $500,000 funding."

The successful projects from the latest grant round are from all regions of Tasmania.

"Young Tasmanians deserve the very best chance at life and this can only be achieved by focusing on and supporting all aspects of their wellbeing," Premier Rockliff said.

"Our Government is delivering on its long-term plan to ensure no matter where young people live, their background or circumstances, a better life will be in their reach."
