I would like to congratulate the more than 11,350 senior secondary students who received their results from the Office of Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (TASC) today.
Tasmanian students have shown incredible resilience this year, and persevered under difficult circumstances caused by COVID-19 with support from their schools, teachers and families.
Despite these challenges, preliminary data shows an increasing percentage of students have achieved the Tasmanian Certificate of Education and the Tasmanian Certificate of Educational Achievement when compared to the preliminary data last year.
We recognise that 2020 has been a year like no other, which is why a number of adjustments and supports were implemented to ensure students were not further disadvantaged by the disruptions caused by COVID-19.
Students can be reassured that all aspects of the external assessment and resulting processes have been undertaken, applying the 2020 external assessment specifications and the usual assessment practices.
I hope all students feel great pride and satisfaction in what they have accomplished in these unprecedented times, and I wish them all the best on their future endeavours in life.
