The Tasmanian Government has today released the draft of The Health Revolution: 20-Year Preventive Health Strategy for community feedback.
The draft Strategy reflects the views and experiences of more than 5,000 Tasmanians from right across the State, who shared their ideas during initial consultation over the last 12 months.
Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said the 20-year Strategy sets a new, bold, long-term vision for Tasmania.
"Our vision is clear: a place where every Tasmanian can live well – through environments that make healthy choices easier, communities that are safe and connected and supports that help people stay well for longer," Minister Archer said.
"This Strategy maps out how we can achieve that over the next 20 years."
Minister Archer said much of what shapes our health and wellbeing happens outside the health system.
"When housing is secure, transport is safe, education is strong, work is stable and environments are clean, Tasmanians thrive and pressure on the health system reduces," Minister Archer said.
"This Strategy will bring those pieces together for a healthier, more sustainable future.
"We know prevention works – every dollar of investment returns $14 in benefits, reduces the burden on our healthcare system, improves the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians, and delivers long-term savings."
A series of four-year action plans will be developed to underpin the Strategy once it is finalised.
The action plans will work across all areas that shape health and wellbeing, and outline practical actions and projects.
The final Strategy will be released in the first half of 2026, with the first action plan to commence on 1 July 2026.
