Griffith Pioneer Park Museum will come alive with the spirit of Italy on Wednesday 26 August as part of the popular A Taste of Italy celebrations. From a day of friendly competition on the bocce courts to an evening of music, food and storytelling, visitors are invited to experience the traditions, culture and community connections that have helped shape Griffith's Italian heritage.
Bocce at the Museum runs from 10am to 4pm, offering the chance to enjoy one of Italy's most beloved pastimes in the unique surrounds of the museum grounds. Gather family and friends, book a bocce court and settle in for a relaxed day of play, discovery and connection. Visitors can also explore the Italian Museum on a self-guided tour, bring along a picnic and immerse themselves in the stories, objects and traditions that celebrate the region's rich Italian legacy. As the sun sets, the celebrations continue with Musica Al Museo from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, including a special Curator Talk at 7pm. Inspired by the legacy of Griffith's Continental Music Club, this unique evening event will showcase the music from this collection that reflect culture and community spirit that resonated through generations of local Italian families. Guests will enjoy freshly made pizzas with their choice of toppings alongside wine, while discovering the stories behind Griffith's Italian history from the heart of the Italian Museum. Musica Al Museo offers a memorable cultural experience and a rare opportunity to connect with the sounds and stories that helped shape Griffith. Visitors can also deepen their understanding of Griffith's Italian story through the Museum's Italian Heritage Talks and Tours, held daily at 11am, from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 August. These engaging guided sessions offer insights into the people, traditions and contributions that have played an important role in the region's development. No bookings are required and standard museum entry fees apply. Those visiting on a Thursday can also stop by the Museum's Pop-Up Café, open from 10am–12pm, for coffee before the talk.
