Taste of Summer opens!

Nic Street, Minister for Hospitality and Events

The Hobart waterfront is set to come alive with another blockbuster Taste of Summer kicking off today.

The seven-day festival is in its second year of being owned and run by the Pinpoint Group, having taken on responsibility for the event from the City of Hobart.

Minister for Hospitality and Events, Nic Street said the flow on benefits of events like the Taste of Summer were significant.

"Major events like this bring people to Tasmania, filling up our cafes and restaurants, while also providing a platform for over 75 local Taste stallholders to promote their world-class products", Minister Street said.

"With general entry tickets starting from $10, and children under 16 free, this year's Taste of Summer festival is a fantastic opportunity for families to come down to PW1 and experience the very best Tasmanian food and beverage", Minister Street continued.

"Australian music icon, Daryl Braithwaite will headline the New Year's Eve celebrations, with artists like Jay Jarome, Hugo Bladel and Tony Mak headlining the 90-strong contingent of Tasmanian performers".

The event is proudly supported by the Rockliff Liberal Government who have partnered with festival organisers to secure the Taste of Summer for the next 5 years.
