Tea Tree Road Fatal Single Vehicle Truck Crash, TAS

A 55-year-old Rokeby man has died as a result of a single vehicle truck crash on Tea Tree Road near the Tea Tree Fire Station this morning, Tasmania Police say.

Around 10.10am the white Mack concrete truck was travelling west on Tea Tree Road toward Brighton when it left the roadway after exiting a right hand bend.

The truck has rolled onto its left hand side and slid down an embankment into a power pole.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle via the windscreen.

A member of the public initially assisted the driver at the scene until emergency services attended.

The man received medical treatment at the scene from Tas Ambulance Paramedics.  Tasmania Fire Service personnel and volunteers assisted at the scene.

The man was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition but unfortunately died from his injuries.

The police investigation is ongoing and police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or the vehicle travelling prior to the crash. Information can be provided to Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
