Teacher Charged With Child Grooming, Abuse Material

Sex Crimes Squad detectives have charged a teacher with alleged child grooming offences and possessing child abuse material under Strike Force Trawler.

Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by State Crime Command's Sex Crimes Squad Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.

On Tuesday 19 May 2026, strike force detectives received a report regarding the detection of child abuse material linked to an account holder in Sydney's south west.

About 6am yesterday (Thursday 21 May 2026) detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Bardia, seizing electronic devices allegedly containing child abuse material.

During those inquiries, detectives allegedly uncovered online communication between the man and a teenage girl spanning from 2021 to 2025.

A 35-year-old man was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of possess child abuse material, two counts of use carriage service-procure <16 sexual activity, three counts of cause child 14 & over to make child abuse material, use carriage service-engage in sexual activity with child and possess child abuse data-use carriage service.

He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Friday 22 May 2026).

Strike Force Trawler inquiries are continuing.
