Blacktown International Sportspark has been a hive of activity with big name teams and athletes from various sporting codes training at the expansive venue under COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines.

The Sportspark recently hosted teams from outside New south Wales from 3 sporting codes namely; AFL, A-League and Supercars motor racing.

Blacktown City Mayor Tony Bleasdale OAM said, "The enforced lockdown in Victoria along with travel and other COVID-19 restrictions has forced many sporting teams and athletes to relocate in order to continue training and competition.

"We are pleased to be able to offer such a world-class facility as Blacktown International Sportspark to these teams so they can train and prepare for competition in a COVID-safe environment."

The Brisbane Lions and Melbourne Demons have been taking advantage of the full-sized AFL oval and facilities at the Sportspark to continue training in a quarantine 'bubble' while in Sydney.

The New Zealand A-League side, Wellington Phoenix is enjoying the facilities at Blacktown Football Park which is home to the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Motor racing legend, Mark Winterbottom and his pit crew have spent time the Sportspark working with Carl Jennings from Super 6 High Performance on mental and physical preparation for two race meetings at Sydney Motorsport Park Eastern Creek.

"Sport has always been at the heart of Blacktown City and we feel obliged to support all sporting codes, clubs and teams during these difficult times," Mayor Bleasdale said.

Community sport has now resumed throughout Blacktown City with all clubs and competitions operating under strict COVID-19 safety plans.

The city's leisure, swimming and tennis centres are open and operating under strict COVID-19 guidelines and bookings are required for all activities.
