Teen, 13, Charged with Robbery, Assault in Sydney

A teenage boy has been charged with robbery, assault and breach of bail offences following a string of alleged incidents across Sydney this month.

About 8.50pm on Tuesday 14 October 2025, police were called to a hotel on Devonshire Street, Surry Hills, following reports of a robbery.

Officers attached To Surry Hills Police Area Command arrived and were told an unknown boy had allegedly stolen a 36-year-old woman's backpack before running from the scene.

A short time later police were called to Central Station, Elizabeth Steet, Sydney, following reports of an assault.

Officers arrived and were told the same boy had allegedly been following a group of women before attempting to rob them.

During the incident a 59-year-old man confronted the boy in order for the women to flee the scene; however, the youth allegedly assaulted the man punching him the face several times before attempting to steal personal items and running from the scene.

The man did not require medical treatment.

Following the incidents, Surry Hills detectives immediately commenced an investigation to locate the boy.

About 2.35am yesterday (Monday 20 October 2025), police were conducting patrols of the Seaforth area when they located an abandoned Toyota utility – reported stolen from Dolls Point – crashed on Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation.

Following a search of the area, officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command located a four young people running along Ethel Street.

After speaking to the youths, police arrested a 13-year-old boy after he allegedly refused to provide his details to officers before taking him to Manly Police Station.

Following inquiries, he was charged with steal from the person value less than $2,000, aggravated assault with intent to rob and inflict actual bodily harm and breach of bail.

The teen was refused bail to appear before Children's Court today (Tuesday 21 October 2025).
