Teen Arrested for Attempted Arson at Upper Burnie Business

Police are investigating two arson attempts in the Upper Burnie area overnight.

About 1:00am this morning police and emergency services were alerted to a fire outside of a supermarket in Upper Burnie.

Three youths were observed running away from the scene by witnesses.

Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police attended, and the fire was extinguished.

At about 1:35am, a second arson was attempted at the shop in Upper Burnie where windows were also smashed.

A 14-year-old youth is currently in police custody assisting with their enquiries.
