Teen charged after assault in Tamworth

A teenager has been charged after an alleged assault at Tamworth earlier this week, NSW Police say.

About 6pm yesterday (Wednesday 12 December 2018), officers from Oxley Police District were notified of an assault involving two males, who are known to each other.

Police will allege a 20-year-old man was with a group of males at the corner of Peel and Jewry streets, Tamworth, when he was allegedly punched several times about 2.30pm on Tuesday (11 December 2018).

About 3.30pm the same day, it’s alleged the 20-year-old man was further assaulted at Tamworth Railway Station.

Following inquiries, about 8.30pm yesterday, a 15-year-old boy attended Tamworth Police Station where he was arrested.

He was charged with affray (x2), and common assault (x2).

The boy was granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Tuesday 8 January 2019.
