A teenage boy has been charged following an investigation into a spate of alleged armed robberies in the Lismore and Goonellabah areas.
On Monday 19 May 2025, police began an investigation following the alleged robbery of a man on Brewster Street, Lismore.
Between Saturday 24 May 2025 and Tuesday 3 June 2025, police commenced inquiries into seven more alleged robbery and attempted robbery incidents they believed were linked.
About 11.40am yesterday (Wednesday 4 June 2025), police arrested a 15-year-old boy on Phillip Street, Goonellabah, and took him to Lismore Police Station.
There he was charged with 16 offences:
- Custody of knife in public place (five counts)
- Robbery armed with offensive weapon (four counts)
- Demand property by force with intent to steal
- Armed with intent to commit indictable offence
- Attempt robbery armed with offensive weapon
- Attempt aggravated assault with intent to take/drive motor vehicle
- Assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of other,
- Dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception, and
- Breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Thursday 5 June 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Friday 11 July 2025.
