Teen charged after woman injured in Brookvale

A teenager has been charged after a woman was injured on Sydney's Northern Beaches yesterday.

About 3pm (Monday 7 January 2018), a 13-year-old girl entered a business in a shopping centre on Old Pittwater Road, Brookvale.

Police will allege there was an altercation between the girl and another girl, aged 14, when a 42-year-old woman intervened and sustained a knife injury to her arm.

The injured woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where she remains.

The 14-year-old girl was uninjured and the 13-year-old girl fled the scene.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 13-year-old girl attended Dee Why Police Station just before 7pm yesterday.

She was charged with reckless wounding, affray, and custody of knife in a public place.

The Narraweena teen was granted conditional bail to appear at a children's court on Tuesday 22 January 2019.
