Teen Charged After Youths Drive Stolen Cars in Orange

Central West Police have charged a teenage boy after a group of youths allegedly armed with machetes drove two stolen cars through the Orange CBD last weekend.

About 2am on Sunday (14 September 2025), police were called to two homes in Orange, following reports of two separate break and enters.

Officers attached to Central West Police District attended both locations and were told two cars – a LDV utility and a MG station wagon – had been stolen from the homes.

Following a search of the area police located the two allegedly stolen cars being driven on Summer Street, Orange, by a group of youths armed with machetes and wearing balaclavas.

Police directed the drivers to stop; however, when they allegedly failed to do so a pursuit was initiated with both vehicles.

The pursuit was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.

Following a search, police recovered the two cars – the station wagon on Treweeke Street and the utility on Newman Street – nearby. They were both seized for forensic examination.

Police immediately commenced an investigation into the incident, with officers locating social media videos of the masked youths – including a 15-year-old boy – allegedly filmed inside the stolen cars.

Following inquiries, about 8am today (Tuesday 16 September 2025), police executed a search warrant at a home on Adina Crescent, Orange.

During the search police arrested a 15-year-old boy and a 29-year-old man – who allegedly attempted to run from officers – before taking them both to Orange Police Station.

The 15-year-old was charged with two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Children's Court on Monday 27 October 2025.
