Lake Illawarra Police District Crime Manager Detective Chief Inspector Brad Ainsworth is reminding residents to take actions to reduce the risk of your car's number plates being stolen.
"People can purchase anti-theft screws which can't be removed with conventional tools. They can be purchased online or from local automtive and hardware retailers."
"Additional measures also include always locking your car, not leaving valuables in your car in plain sight and parking your car in your garage and not in the street. If you don't have a garage, park in well-lit areas and consider installing CCTV to your home."
"Immediately report the theft of number plates via the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 or your local police station."
