Teen Charged in Orange Car Theft After Crash

A teenage boy will face court today over an alleged vehicle theft after a crash in the state's Central West yesterday.

Officers attached to Central West Police District were called to Nyles Gate Road, Millthorpe, about 25km south of Orange, about 3.15pm yesterday (Monday 15 June 2026) with reports of a crash.

Police arrived to find a Subaru sedan had rolled near the roadway.

Passers-by had assisted the driver – a 13-year-old boy – out of the vehicle with no reported injuries.

Police will allege the boy had stolen the vehicle from a garage at a residence on Hughes Street, Orange, about 2pm the same day, before driving it to Millthorpe.

Officers arrested the teen and took him to Orange Police Station, where he was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.

He was refused bail to face a children's court today (Tuesday 16 June 2026).

Operation Soteria inquiries continue.
