Teen Charged With Property Crimes in Gumdale, Kuraby

Upper Mount Gravatt Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a teenager following an alleged attempted break and enter in Gumdale early this morning, 1 April.

At 12.30am, police received reports of a group allegedly attempting to break into an address on Nichols Street.

Upon police arrival, the group allegedly fled in a white Toyota Prado which had been stolen from a burglary in Rubicon Crescent in Kuraby on 30 March.

Shortly afterwards, responding officers successfully deployed a Tyre Deflation Device.

The vehicle continued travelling along the Pacific Motorway near Rochedale South, where it will be alleged a person was observed hanging out of the vehicle's window.

Shortly after 2am, the vehicle stopped on Ironwood Street in Crestmead and the occupants fled on foot, with police arresting a 15-year-old Crestmead boy nearby.

The teenager has since been charged with two counts of attempted enter dwelling with intent, and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, enter dwelling and commit and receiving tainted property.

His police bail was refused, and he is expected to appear before Beenleigh Magistrates Court today, 1 April.
