Teen dies after water-skiing incident near Cowra

A teenage boy has died following a water-skiing incident in the state's Central West this morning.

Emergency services were called to Wyangala Dam, about 40km north east of Cowra, just after 9.15am (Wednesday 1 January 2020), after reports a 13-year-old boy was injured while water-skiing.

He was pulled from the water by family members and CPR commenced.

The teenager was taken to Cowra Airport, where he was airlifted to The Children's Hospital at Westmead; however, he died about 2.30pm today.

The driver of the boat, a 45-year-old man, has been spoken to by officers from Chifley Police District.

Police have seized the vessel for forensic examination.

Inquiries are continuing.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
