Police are imploring drivers to slow down after a series of high-range speeding offences in Glenorchy, including two Provisional licence holders detected driving at more than 60km/h over the speed limit on the Brooker Highway.
Tasmania Police Glenorchy Division Inspector Jason Klug said the incidents of high-speed driving were extremely disappointing.
"The consequences for such reckless driving behaviour can be catastrophic," Inspector Klug said.
"To those speeding drivers I say, just think of the damage you could have done to yourself, and to other road users, and the devastation that would cause to families.
"Emergency services workers too, experience the traumatic outcomes associated with road fatalities. Slow down, we don't want our officers to have to knock on your loved ones' door to deliver tragic news."
