Teen stable after being hit by car

A teenage boy is in a stable condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Sydney's north-west yesterday.

About 5pm (Tuesday 25 August 2020), emergency services were called to Victoria Road, West Ryde, after reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

Police were told the 14-year-old was hit by a grey Mazda sedan as he attempted to cross the road.

The teenager was taken to The Children's Hospital at Westmead with serious head injuries. He is now in a stable condition following surgery.

Officers from Ryde Police Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The driver, a 40-year-old man, returned a negative breath test at the scene and was taken to Ryde Hospital for further mandatory testing.
