Teenage boy dies after crash - New England Police District

A boy has died five days after being critically injured in a single-vehicle crash in the Northern Tablelands.

Just before 10am on Saturday (4 March 2023), emergency services were called to Wallangara Road, Ashford, about 57km north of Inverell, and found a Holden Commodore had left the roadway, rolled and crashed.

The alleged driver – a 15-year-old boy – suffered serious injuries. He was released from the vehicle and airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Police were advised the boy died yesterday (Thursday 9 March 2023).

The passenger – a 14-year-old boy – suffered minor injuries.

Officers from New England Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
