A teenager has been charged following an investigation into an alleged antisemitic assault in Sydney's CBD earlier this week.
Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command commenced an investigation after reports of an alleged assault on a train travelling towards Town Hall Station about 4.20pm on Monday 22 September 2025.
Police were told a 66-year-old man was walking towards the train door exit when they were allegedly approached by two males.
The pair allegedly made multiple threats at knifepoint about the man's religion before assaulting the 66-year-old and running from the scene.
The man was assisted by Transport for NSW staff before attending Day Street Police Station to report the incident.
Following investigations, around 2.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 23 September 2025), officers executed a search warrant at an address on Orient Road, Padstow, and arrested a 16-year-old boy.
He was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with armed with intent commit indictable offence, common assault, publicly threaten violence on grounds of religion, and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm.
The teen was bail refused to appear at a children's court today (Wednesday 24 September 2025).
