Teenager Charged After Heathmont Armed Robbery

Maroondah Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a teenager following an alleged armed robbery in Heathmont this morning.

Officers have been told a teenager got out of a Volkswagen hatchback in the middle of Edna Street and confronted a 14-year-old boy about 7.25am on Friday, 8 May.

The teenager was allegedly armed with a knife and made demands for the boy's phone, before two other unknown males also exited the Volkswagen.

A passer-by stopped their car and offered assistance to the boy, before the trio returned to the Volkswagen and fled the scene.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

A 15-year-old Wantirna boy has subsequently been charged with theft and handle stolen goods.

He was bailed to appear before a children's court at a later date.

The investigation into identifying the other males involved continues.
