A teenage boy has been charged after allegedly stabbing a student at a high school in the state's Central West yesterday.
About 2pm (Wednesday 22 July 2020), emergency services were called to the high school in Orange following reports of a fight.
Upon arrival, officers from Central West Police District deployed OC spray to disperse a number of fighting students, while NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 15-year-old boy for a puncture wound to his chest.
The teenager was taken to Orange Health Service, where he underwent surgery for non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released from hospital.
A crime scene was established and detectives commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, a 14-year-old boy was arrested at a home in Orange about 5pm today (Thursday 23 July 2020) and taken to Orange Police Station.
He was charged with reckless wounding in company and granted conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Monday 31 August 2020.
