A teenager has been charged with firearms offences following an incident at Mudgee last week, NSW Police say.
Shortly after 7.30pm on Wednesday 21 June 2017, police responded to a shooting at a home on Denison Street, Mudgee, where a 14-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to his foot.
Following an investigation by detectives from Mudgee Local Area Command, about 11am today, the boy was arrested and taken to Mudgee Police Station.
Police were previously informed that the incident occurred whilst the child was shooting rabbits on a rural property, however the shooting occurred in the home at the Denison Street address.
The firearm was previously stolen from a Bowral address in 2005, inquiries are continuing in respect to that theft.
He was charged with possess unauthorised firearm, carry firearm in a manner likely to injure.
He was also charged with shoplifting relating to a separate incident at a Mudgee store on Tuesday 20 June 2017.
He was given conditional and will appear before a children’s court on Wednesday 19 July 2017.
