Teenagers arrested over armed robberies

Police have arrested two teens following a series of alleged armed robberies in Melbourne’s East overnight, Victoria Police say.

Police were called to reports of an armed robbery at a car park in Hiltons Lane, Box Hill yesterday evening.

Investigators were told a 43-year-old Balwyn North woman was returning to her car when she was approached from behind by a number of teens about 9.45pm.

One of the teens made threats to the victim and demanded her car keys before all three offenders fled in the victim’s silver Toyota sedan.

It is alleged the same offenders were then involved in two armed robberies on service stations.

• A service station Blackburn Road, Glen Waverley about 12.45am; and

• a service station on Warrandyte Road, Ringwood North just before 1am.

Detectives located and recovered the vehicle in Healesville and two alleged offenders were arrested about 2.30am

The 14-year-old boy, and 16-year-old girl were arrested nearby and are currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

It is believed two other offenders are outstanding and the investigation is ongoing.
