Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged two teenagers as investigations continue into the alleged kidnapping of a woman in Sydney's south west last year.
Strike Force Kegar was established on Sunday 16 November 2025 by detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Fairfield City Police Area Command to investigate the alleged kidnapping of a 72-year-old woman.
On Tuesday 18 November 2025, detectives spoke with a woman at hospital, who was undergoing treatment for minor injuries after being detained for two days.
Detectives were told about 2.45am on Sunday 16 November 2025, a group of five men - three armed with firearms - entered the home on St Johns Road, Cabramatta, and allegedly kidnapped a 72-year-old woman.
Over the course of the investigation, strike force detectives seized two vehicles and executed two crime scene warrants at properties in Carramar and Revesby, believed to be used as strongholds by the offenders.
Following extensive inquiries about 11am on Wednesday 25 February 2026 strike force detectives - assisted by officers from the Mid-North Coast Police District - executed a search warrant in West Kempsey and arrested an 18-year-old man.
He was taken to Kempsey Police Station and charged with special aggravated break and enter with intent - armed with a dangerous weapon, take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasioning actual bodily harm, face blackened/disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence, participate in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity and two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Bail Division Local Court 1 on Thursday 26 February 2026, where he was formally refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 29 April 2026.
Following further inquiries, about 6pm yesterday (Wednesday 4 March 2026), strike force officers - with assistance of the Tactical Operations Unit - attended a home in Yampi Place, Cartwright.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with special aggravated break and enter with intent - armed with a dangerous weapon, take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence, participate criminal group contribute criminal, two counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and possess unauthorised pistol.
He was refused bail to appear at a Children's Court today (Thursday 5 March 2026).
