Teens arrested running from stolen car in Tarneit

Werribee Crime Investigation Unit detectives with the assistance of the Dog Squad arrested five teenagers who dumped a stolen car in Tarneit last night.

The allegedly stolen car came to police attention on a number of occasions on Tuesday before officers caught up with the vehicle on Mulholland Drive about 6pm.

The car, which was allegedly stolen from Truganina on 20 December, was believed to have been used during a robbery at a tobacco store in Wickford Road yesterday morning.

Officers were able to successfully deploy stop sticks to disable the vehicle before detectives and a dog squad unit arrested the five males as they ran from the car.

Further enquiries have revealed those arrested were also allegedly involved in an incident at a sports store were sporting clothes were stolen.

In this incident five males were seen to have walked into the store at a Heaths Road shopping centre select clothes before quickly running from the area.

Detectives from Wayward Taskforce have interviewed those arrested.

A 17 and 16-year-old from Tarneit have been charged with theft, robbery, theft of motor car and commit indictable offences whilst on bail.

They were remanded in custody to appear at a children's court at a later date.

Two 15-years-olds from Derrimut and Tarneit were charged with robbery and theft and have been bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date.

The fifth male, a 15-year-old from Tarneit, has been released and is expected to be charged on summons.
