Teens Charged After Coffs Harbour Pursuit

Two teenage boys will face court after a pursuit in the state's north yesterday.

About 2pm on Thursday 7 August 2025, officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District were patrolling along the Pacific Highway, Bonville, when they attempted to stop a bronze SUV.

Checks revealed the vehicle was allegedly involved in a pursuit about 1.30pm on the same day, and it was reported stolen from a home in The Entrance between Wednesday 6 August 2025 and Thursday 7 August 2025.

When the SUV failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through Stadium Drive, where the vehicle crashed into two other vehicles, became bogged in the grass, and came to a stop. The two occupants left the scene on foot.

A short time later, police arrested two boys – aged 14 and 15 – nearby and seized the vehicle and mobile phones, which will undergo forensic examination.

The teens were taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where the older boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, commit s154A offence & disseminate, and custody of knife in public place.

The younger boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, driver conveyance taken without consent of owner, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (two counts), drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous (two counts), commit s154A offence & disseminate, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, custody of knife in public place, and not give particulars to other driver.

They were both refused bail to appear at a children's court on Friday 8 August 2025.
