Teens Charged in Wagga Wagga Break-Ins

Two teenagers will face court today charged over alleged break and enter offences in the Riverina, as part of Operation Regional Mongoose.

Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime, committed predominately by young offenders.

About 1.30am yesterday (Sunday 27 April 2025), police were called to a home on Hill Street, Turvey Park, following reports of a break and enter.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District responded and were told two people allegedly broke into a home stealing a handbag, and keys to a BMW, which they allegedly stole from a garage.

A crime scene was established and investigations commenced.

About 7.30am yesterday, Traffic and Highway Patrol officers were patrolling the Barton Highway, Yass, when they detected two allegedly stolen vehicles, a BMW, and a Ford Mustang.

A short time later, officers attempted to pull over the Ford Mustang, when it failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

Road spikes were successfully deployed on the Hume Highway, Yass, where the vehicle came to a stop and officers arrested the 18-year-old male driver.

He was taken to Gundagai Hospital for mandatory testing, before being taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station.

He was charged with police pursuit – not stop-drive dangerously, police pursuit - not stop - drive at speed, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, take & drive conveyance without consent of owner, class A motor vehicle exceed speed greater than 45 km/h, driver use mobile phone when not permitted, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle), larceny value less than/ equal to $2000, two counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company intend steal less than equal to $60,000, aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-people there and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

He was refused bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Monday 28 April 2025).

About 9am yesterday, police were called to a vacant block, on the corner of Queen Street and Allman Street, Campbelltown, where they located and seized the stolen BMW.

Following inquiries, a 14-year-old boy was arrested on old Leumeah Road, Campbelltown.

During a search of the boy, police allegedly located and seized two watches, believed to be stolen.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company intend steal less than or equal to $60,000 and aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence – people there.

He was refused bail to appear in a children's court today (Monday 28 April 2025).
