Construction tenders are now open for redevelopment works at Maidens Reserve in Kalgulup Regional Park.
The proposed redevelopment at Maidens Reserve will provide for a wheelchair accessible sealed pathway through Tuart Forest, leading to a lookout where visitors can enjoy panoramic views over Bunbury.
The proposed lookouts will be a major focal point in the regional park for locals and visitors, and will include shade, seating and interpretive signage on an upper and lower lookout.
These works form part of the McGowan Government's commitment of $10.5 million over four years for the creation and management of Kalgulup Regional Park in Bunbury.
The redevelopment is supported by a recent upgrade of the nearby parking area along Ocean Drive by the City of Bunbury, which has increased parking capacity.
Establishment of the Kalgulup Regional Park is part of the McGowan Government's ground-breaking Plan for Our Parks initiative, which aims to create five million hectares of new parks and conservation reserves over five years.
The 3,100-hectare park, named Kalgulup, meaning 'place of fire' or 'place of burning campfires', is a stronghold for biodiversity and a culturally significant area to the Noongar people.

As stated by Environment Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
