As stated by Minister for Central Australian Economic Reconstruction, Dale Wakefield:

"The Territory Labor Government's top priority is protecting Territorians and creating local jobs. The hospital car park and new staff accommodation projects will support more than 175 local jobs during construction and support a further 465 indirect jobs.

"We have acknowledged for some time that hospital car parking has been an issue. This is why it has been incorporated into the development of the Masterplan.

"At times when families are under a lot of stress attending the hospital, this car park will help to make the burden a little easier.

"Work is also well underway on the new staff accommodation, which is about retaining our hardworking health professionals, while attracting more people to stay in Alice Springs."
