Students are back at school today with many important activities back on the agenda as restrictions lift, providing a return to normal for schools across the state.
The following activities are all able to occur in schools:
- School assemblies
- Intrastate camps and excursions
- School sport competitions, sports days and carnivals and inter-school competitions
- School formals and socials
- Class photos; and
- Playgroups and occasional care.
Parents, volunteers and service providers are also able to enter school and preschool grounds providing health advice is followed.
"Students, staff and families across the state will welcome the return to school for Term 3, particularly with the return of these important activities," said Education Minister John Gardner.
"There is no better place to be in the world right now than South Australia, and it is because of the great work of our public health officials that we have been able to transition these activities back so quickly.
"We have led the nation in school attendance since last term, and we believe this has placed our students in an excellent position to succeed in their studies this year.
"Students and families alike will be keen to get back into sport, which is fantastic because we know that physical activity provides immense benefits in supporting young people health and wellbeing.
"We know that the health and social benefits that comes with participating in sport are important for our young people, and I'm sure that school students across South Australia will be excited about returning to competition this term.
"The return of schools formals, socials, camps and excursions will certainly be welcomed by students, who earlier in the year may have feared these activities may not occur in 2020."
Term 3 will also see further progress made on the Marshall Government's $1.3 billion education capital works program, with 27 upgrades and three new school builds already under construction and many more set to begin this term.
"Shovels are in the ground on many capital upgrades in our schools, with many more about to start, providing thousands of local jobs and providing generational upgrades of schools across our state," said Minister Gardner.
"I am sure that families across South Australia will be watching the progress of upgrades at their local school with keen interest.
"This is such an exciting time for South Australian students and families, who are set to benefit from the biggest capital investment in schools ever made in this state."
