Territory Safety Division deployed to remote community

Members of the Northern Territory Polices' newly formed Territory Safety Division (TSD) have been deployed for the first time to a remote community.

Based at the Nightcliff Police Station and formed earlier this month, the TSD focuses on high visibility policing and can be used as a surge response right across the Northern Territory.

Following community unrest in Wadeye recently, 5 members of the TSD have travelled to the community to support local police operations.

Acting Commander Brendan Muldoon said "The fact the TSD can be utilised in a surge capacity at short notice provides police with the ability to respond quickly to all manner of situations where extra support is needed."

The first group of TSD members will spend the next few days in the community and will also conduct operations throughout the Daly region while travelling between Darwin and Wadeye.
