The cycle repeats in Brunswick

The Fawkner Highway Patrol Bicycle Unit was out and about in Brunswick again today as part of operation Roadwise (21 Deccember)., Victoria Police say

Officers performing bicycle patrol duties issued 49 infringements to drivers for mobile phone offences over a period of 5 hours.

Today’s patrols were a repeat of an operation that ran on Saturday (15 December) which saw 48 infringements issued over the same period.

Disappointingly, a 57-year-old Albert Park man managed to snare himself an infringement on both days.

The intercepts form part of Operation Roadwise, a state-wide road safety operation focusing on enforcement and improving driver behaviour.

During this time there will be an increased focus by police on the main causes of fatalities and serious injuries which include; excessive speed, driver distraction, seatbelt non-compliance, fatigue and drink and drug drivers.
