The Australian Government’s plan for the future of the forestry industry, National Forest Industries Plan – Growing a better Australia, is welcomed by the Hodgman Liberal Government.
This is a clear plan for growth – including the goal to grow another billion trees - which could see significant benefits in Tasmania and further boost the States growing forestry industry.
The recently released Schirmer Report shows the Hodgman Government’s Tasmanian forerstry growth strategy is working, with more than 5,700 jobs in the industry.
This is in stark contrast to the more than 4,000 forestry jobs lost under the former Labor-Green government.
Confidence is back, investment is flowing and production is up with exports growing dramatically.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is looking forward to working with Richard Colbeck and the Australian Government to capitalise on opportunities for Tasmania under the national plan.
