Detectives from Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit are investigating following a theft and subsequent deception in Mentone earlier this month.
Investigators have been told a female victim had bank cards and other items stolen from her car at an unknown location sometime on 7 April.
The cards were subsequently used at a service station in Mentone in the early hours of 8 April.
Investigators have released a CCTV image of a woman who they believe can assist with their enquiries.
