Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit detectives have released security footage of a thief in action on a residential street in Kew on Tuesday, Victoria Police say.
The incident took place on Belford Road in Kew on 13 March about 1.10am
The footage shows a man opening the back of a parked utility and rifling through various work tools before selecting a battery charger.
The man then closed the back of the utility and walked away with a battery charger.
Detectives believe the incident may be linked to a theft on the same vehicle the week before.
On that occasion a number of tools were stolen from the vehicle between 3 and 5am on Tuesday 6 March.
Investigators have released CCTV footage of the incident and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
