Theft of $20 000 chain at Hoppers Crossing shopping centre

Police are investigating after a man fled a Hoppers Crossing jewellery store with a $20 000 gold chain last month.

Investigators have been told the man attended the store within the shopping centre on Heaths Road on 30 November about 12.45pm.

The man asked to try on the 9ct gold chain before he fled the store still wearing it.

It's believed the man fled the shopping centre on a motorbike towards Tarneit.

Police have released an image of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be of Indian Subcontinental appearance with brown eyes and short dark hair which was slicked back.

He was wearing a black motorcycle jacket and black motorcycle pants along with red sneakers.

He was carrying a red back pack and silver helmet.

Investigators would also like to hear from anyone who has purchased or seen the gold chain being sold for well below its retail value through social media or online marketplace websites.
