The Open Galleries has received a refresh after three new artworks by border artist Nat Ward were installed this week.
As part of the public art program Open Galleries, located on the wall of the Wodonga Library facing The Cube Wodonga, three light boxes provide artists with an opportunity to exhibit their work.
The first time exhibiting her works, Ward has chosen three paintings: Red - The Murray River, Blue - FC Hill and Brown - Swimming in the River from the Ramp.
"My paintings are based on my observations and memories of swimming in the Murray River and hiking through the wetland environment and surrounding hills," Ward said.
"My intention for my work is to deconstruct the obvious landscape, to rearrange natures marks into a suggestive, visceral overall experience, whilst also drawing the viewer into noticing the landscape's intricate offerings.
"I want the viewer to 'walk' with me and be challenged by the abundance of ambiguity in this landscape, the interesting nuances, playfulness of line, form and colour, and then perhaps reinterpret the scene/journey in their own mind."
In spring, the light boxes will be temporarily relocated to The Cube Wodonga wall, facing the courtyard, when the Wodonga Library building is being redeveloped.
