Melbourne East police nabbed a well-equipped thief stealing coins outside the Melbourne Arts Centre yesterday.
It is alleged a man wearing a wet suit, flippers and snorkel jumped into the water outside the Arts Centre on St Kilda Road about midday.
The thief stole a small amount of coins when police arrived and arrested him.
The 57-year-old South Yarra man is expected to be charged on summons with theft and going equipped to steal.
