Thieves caught at Golden Grove, South Australia

Police have arrested two men after they stole a caravan and car from a property at Golden Grove this evening.

About 7.45pm on Sunday 18 August, police received a report of a caravan being stolen from a storage business on Greenwith Road. Two men allegedly entered the yard and hitched the caravan up to a silver Holden ute. Witnesses at the property confronted the two men but they drove off with the stolen caravan.

A short time later, the two men returned in the ute and this time attempted to steal a Mercedes transit van. After seeing the car return, witnesses closed the property gates and locked them in before calling police.

Police patrols arrived as the men were attempting to leave towing the van and were subsequently arrested.

The stolen caravan was located by patrols a short distance away on Greenwith Road.

Two 39-year-old men from Albert Park and Salisbury Plain will be charged with two counts of theft and two counts of being unlawfully on premises. They will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date.
