Thompson Urges Support for Flood Recovery Petition

NSW Nationals

Nationals Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, is urging the community to stand with flood-affected families, farmers, primary producers, and small business by signing a petition calling for urgent State Government support.

The NSW Parliamentary ePetition calls for the immediate delivery of Category C and D disaster funding to the Mid North Coast and Hunter regions – support already provided to other areas in similar crises.

"It's been one month since the floods, and the pain is still being felt right across our community," Mrs Thompson said.

"Lives have been upended, homes destroyed, and livelihoods shattered. The Labor Government has seen the devastation, now they need to act."

The petition highlights the severe, long-term damage to key industries such as dairy, beef, turf, and oyster farming, with many producers warning they may not recover without substantial support.

"The $25,000 grants that were announced simply won't cut it," Mrs Thompson said.

"This is a region in crisis, we need long-term, targeted funding to help our communities rebuild and recover."

Mrs Thompson is asking everyone to sign and share the petition, which requires 20,000 online signatures to be formally debated in the Legislative Assembly.
